Just over $48k for a lightly equipped M240i.
Estoril Blue paint, 6MT, black kidney grilles, Nav, CarPlay.
What annoys me is that the Navigation option is required to get CarPlay. That is absurd.
(Note: lead image has red leather, I optioned mine out with black SensaTec.)

Not sure what happened to that link, but here’s the image, everyone.

For some reason I have issues with this PC. I fixed it on my phone.

Stick with the plan
Used 997

Still the plan, but I like having backup options. This is one of them.
No 230i because I don’t want another turbo four cylinder.

That does seem expensive.

My problem with the 2 Series is that it’s too heavy for the money
They charge a lot but it’s not that much lighter than the 3/4 series
Now I’d still take the M2 for sure, just don’t feel like paying for it

Better to drive and cheaper than 3/4 series though.
I would be looking at the M2 instead, but fucking dealers mark them up $10k. So the M240i gets its spot on the list.

Although I love the 2 Series (and plan on buying a 228i before Christmas), have you considered a 340i? They’re very nice as well, plus, the new B58 is an amazing engine. You can probably get a good deal on a 2016 now that the 2017s are on dealer lots.

which shows how expensive 6 cylinder 3/4 series are now
except when you get a killer lease deal
if you get bmw then you may as well lease

blue cars with red interiors are awesome as fuck tho

The 240i has the same B58 engine.
And a strong no on the 3-series.
So I’m actually planning to buy a 997 and to daily it. I have a practical beater, so the next car is going to be about fun with some comfort.
I’m looking at a handful of newer cars because they’re close to target price and what kind of car I’m looking at.
So right there, I’m not looking at a 3-series because I’d rather have a coupe this time around.
Additionally, I recently put 1,000 miles on a rented 3-series and the lifeless steering was a complete and utter deal killer. The rest of the car was really nice, but the numb steering really turned me off. I hear the 2's steering is supposedly much better.

Buy the 228i or M2, anything inbetween is a waste of time and compromise.

Nope on the 228i because I’ve been driving turbo four bangers for the last 11 years, and I want six or more cylinders this time.
M2 would be on the list, but dealers are greedy bastards and they all have at least a $10k markup...so M240i will be looked at instead.

Agreed!

I always drive my cars more than lease mileage allows.

That’s an M240, not an M240i.

Apple makes a M240 now?
![]() 10/20/2016 at 19:25 |

If it were apple, it would be the i2-series Plus 3.0 Liter

Actually an M240B ;)

But will you keep your current car?
Makes it easy to not go over miles..

Nope, the GSW is going to be sold back asap.
I have a beater truck now, though.

Just do Euro Delivery, save $3-5k off the price.

What I’ve learned from this thread: BMW’s naming scheme is really, really complicated.

I agree with your logic, the engine in the 228i is good but not true sports car territory.
I think the M2 markup should fade in certain markets. Have you considered a Mustang GT350, Camaro Z/28 or the like? Very different options but fully warrantied nonetheless.

I love the GT350, but it has similar stupid markups (and for that reason, GT PP is on my list)

Coworker was able to swing one at MSRP, granted he had to fly halfway across the country. Best of luck on your search (it’s half the fun)

Ah I see. That changes things.
I really am curious to test drive the new Panamera S when it comes out. I wonder how it feels having a tiny little V6 in such a massive car. Reviews say that it’s very rev happy.
![]() 11/02/2016 at 15:49 |

It’s got tons of torque though. And no turbo lag. I bet it feels like a revvy V8.
And as far as lease vs own...I typically do 20k-25k miles per year, though it may be decreasing a bit. I expect when I get a 997 I’ll put around 12-15k per year on it.
![]() 11/03/2016 at 04:10 |

Yeah it has that torque (also it hits way lower). It probably does feel like a revvy small Euro N/A V8, except with more torque and a lower redline.
holy shit that’s a lot of miles!
